Widget process

AD

Adding a Network widget to your internal web-based application has the following steps:

Prerequisite tasks

Complete the following tasks to prepare for using a Network widget.

  • Sign the Authorized Data Use Agreement (ADUA)

Veeva OpenData is available to access using the Network widgets. This agreement is required if you are using Veeva OpenData in a third party vendor application.

  • Enable single sign-on (SSO)

Ensure that SSO is configured for your Network instance and that users are assigned to an SSO security policy. For more information, see Enable single sign-on (SSO).

When these items are complete, administrators can begin the widget setup.

Widget setup

Getting a widget set up for your internal web-based application takes requires only a few steps.

Step 1: Configure the widget

Network administers set up the widget in their Network instance. When the configuration is saved, Network generates code snippets.

Step 2: Embed the widget

Web developers embed the generated code snippets into the internal application.

Note: When steps 1 and 2 are complete, a widget is fully functional for business users to access and use from your internal application.

Step 3: Define optional events

User actions can trigger events. Web developers can use the events to customize the integration with your internal application and your downstream systems. For example, for the Search widget, use the information from a Select event to download the record in your internal application so users can add an HCP to an expense report.

When these steps are complete, the widget is embedded in your application and business users can use it to interact with records in the Network instance.
