Configure an Affiliation widget
Network administrators create and customize the Affiliation widget in their Network instance. When the configuration is saved, Network generates the code that web developers will use to embed the widget in the internal application. You can also add the widget to an application to use in the Network Portal.
Prerequisites
Ensure that you have completed the following tasks:
-
Sign the Authorized Data Use Agreement (ADUA)
Veeva OpenData is available to access using the Network widgets. Sign the Authorized Data Use Agreement (ADUA) if you are using Veeva OpenData in a third party vendor application.
Note: This is not required if you are using the widget in a Network Portal application.
-
Enable single sign-on (SSO)
Ensure that SSO is configured for your Network instance and that users are assigned to an SSO security policy. For more information, see Enable single sign-on (SSO).
Steps for creating an affiliation widget
Adding the Affiliation widget to your internal application requires the following steps:
- Step 1 - Set up the objects: Two new data model objects, Affiliation and Account Link, are added to support the Affiliation widget. Configure fields, reference codes, and workflow settings for the objects. Also, create a custom field to identify the HCOs that are health systems.
-
Step 2 - Create the Affiliation widget: Create the widget in your Network instance. This includes creating a Search widget so users can add accounts to the influence map.
When the configuration is saved, code snippets are automatically generated.
- Step 3 - Load data: Load the health system data, new HCPs, and affiliation data into your Network instance.
- Step 4 - Embed the widget: Web developers can embed the widget code in an internal application or add it to an application for the Network Portal
When these steps are complete, the Affiliation widget is fully functional for business users to search for and view affiliations in Network.
Tip: You can optionally customize the Affiliation widget by creating views and defining custom branding for HCP and HCO types and relationship details. For more information, see Affiliation widget customizations.
