Address verification processes

The process of address verification differs depending on the originating source of the address update or addition. Address verification occurs automatically during data loadClosed A record that has not yet been validated by a data steward., change requestsClosed A request to change data from Veeva CRM, the Network API, or from within the Network user interface. Change requests are processed by either customer or Veeva data stewards, depending on ownership of the data being changed., and updates submitted through the Network UI.

New address originating from a data change request

When an address is added through a data change request (through the Network API), the address is parsed and verified to determine whether it is valid. (Updates originating from a data steward are parsed but not automatically verified.)

Assuming the address is successfully validated, a data steward may still choose to override the address and revalidate it by clicking the Verify button, starting the process again. If the data steward chooses not to revalidate, the address state is Overridden in the final record.

If the address is not successfully validated after initial parsing and verification, the data steward can override the address and start the validation process again. If the address remains unverified and the data steward makes no further changes, the address state is Not Verified in the final record.

If the address is verified at the beginning of the process or after re-validation, it is considered Verified in the final record.

Updated address originating from a data change request

When an address is changed through a data change request (through the Network API), the address is initially parsed and verified only if its previous state was Not Verified and if it did not originate from a data steward. Data stewards can still choose to override the address and revalidate it by clicking the Verify button, starting the process again. If data stewards chooses not to revalidate, the address state is Overridden in the final record.

If the address state was previously Verified or Overridden, data steward can choose to start the validation process again. If data stewards choose not to validate, or if they make further changes during the validation process, the address status is Overridden.

New address originating from the Network UI

The process of adding an address from the Network user interface is similar to the data change request process; the address is parsed and verified (if it does not originate from a data steward) to determine whether it is valid. Assuming the address is successfully validated, data stewards can still choose to override the address and revalidate it by clicking the Verify button, starting the process again. If data stewards choose not to revalidate, the address status is Overridden in the final record.

If the address is not successfully validated after initial parsing and verification, data stewards can override the address and start the validation process again. If the address remains unverified and data stewards make no further changes, the address status is Not Verified in the final record.

If the address is verified at the beginning of the process or after re-validation, it is considered Verified in the final record.

Updated address originating from the user interface

The process of changing an address from the Network user interface is similar to the data change request process; the address is initially parsed and verified only if its previous state was Not Verified and if it did not originate from a data steward. Data stewards can still choose to override the address and revalidate it by clicking the Verify button, starting the process again. If data stewards choose not to revalidate, the address status is Overridden in the final record.

If the address was previously Verified or Overridden, data stewards can choose to start the validation process again. If data stewards choose not to validate, or if they make further changes during the validation process, the address state is Overridden.

Address verification during data load

During a data load, each address is initially parsed and verified if the subscription has the cleansing flag set to true. If the address validates successfully, it is considered Verified. Otherwise, the address state is Not Verified.
