Review the following frequently asked questions (FAQs) for the Network Portal and Widgets.

General

What is the Veeva Network Portal?

A centralized web interface within Veeva Network MDM that can host various widgets for easy access to information and functionalities.

What are Widgets in Veeva Network MDM?

Embeddable components that provide specific Network MDM functionalities within other applications or the Network Portal.

What is the difference between the Network Search Widget and the Network Portal?

The Search Widget is a component designed to be embedded within another application, such as a CRM or custom website, to provide a streamlined search-and-add experience. The Network Portal is a standalone, lightweight web application that hosts multiple widgets in one place, allowing users without full Network MDM access to search for data and submit requests.

Specialized widget functions

What does the Search Widget allow users to do?

Search for records within Veeva Network MDM directly from an external application or portal.

What is the "Affiliation" widget used for?

The Affiliation widget is designed to manage connections between records, allowing users to view, add, or end-date affiliations directly. For example, a user can use this widget to quickly link an HCP to a new primary workplace or remove them from an old clinic without navigating the full Network MDM record profile.

What is the Hierarchy Explorer widget?

The Hierarchy Explorer widget provides a visual representation of relationships between entities, such as affiliations between an HCP and various HCOs like hospitals, clinics, or departments. It allows users to navigate complex 2-tier and 3-tier hierarchies to better understand corporate structures and reporting lines.

What kind of information is shown in the Profile Widget?

A summary or detailed view of a specific record's key attributes and information.

Data change requests

What functionality does the DCR Widget provide?

It allows users to submit Data Change Requests (DCRs) for Network MDM records from an external application.

Can I control which fields are editable in the DCR widget?

Yes. Through Widget Configuration, administrators define which fields are visible and which are editable during a Data Change Request (DCR) submission. This ensures portal or external users only modify business-critical fields while protecting internal system data from unauthorized changes.

How does the "My Requests" widget help end users?

The My Requests widget allows users to track the status of their submitted Data Change Requests (DCRs). It provides a real-time list showing whether a request is pending, approved, or rejected. Users can drill into specific request details to see notes from the data steward, reducing the need for manual status inquiries.

Configuration and permissions

How are permissions managed for the Network Portal?

Network Portal access is governed by portal-specific permissions and Data Visibility Profiles (DVPs). An administrator must enable the Network Portal User permission for a user profile. Even within the portal, the DVP ensures a user can only search for and see records in authorized countries and objects.

Can I customize the layout of information within a Profile Widget?

Yes, Widget Profile Layouts allow you to configure which fields are displayed and how they are arranged.

Where can I use Network Widgets?

In external web applications and within the Veeva Network Portal.

What is the general process for using a Network Widget?

It typically involves configuration and embedding the widget's code into the target application or portal.

Can I embed multiple widgets on a single page?

Yes, the architecture allows for embedding and using multiple widgets as needed.
